State Farm Machinery to go National with ‘Odi-Tech’

The MSME Department is set to launch a brand ‘Odi-Tech’ to promote technological and industrial equipment and machinery products manufactured by domestic enterprises of the State.

Agricultural machinery and equipment would be the first product range to be rolled out with the brand name and marketed by Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC). The products include different farm implements and machinery like threshers, winnowers, mowers, cultivators, tractor trolleys, ploughs, weeder, levellers and also storage bins.

There are around 30 MSME units manufacturing farm implements and agricultural machinery in the State. The common brand and promotion by the State-PSU will enable greater exposure, enhance acceptability and further business for entrepreneurs by reaching out to wider markets in the country, Secretary, MSME Panchanan Dash said.

“The brand will be unveiled by OSIC in next few days. While the brand would start off with farm machinery, more products would be added to it. We are going to add paint and dyes to the brand subsequently and invite manufacturers of varied products to join individually or through clusters,” Dash said.

The MSME Department has already launched Odi-Food brand for marketing food and edible products through OSIC. Salt is the first product from the Odi-Food stable which has met good market response.

Dash said a common brand name would accord more credibility to local MSME products as it would not only carry the assurance of State’s involvement but also of quality. It would also ensure better penetration in markets outside Odisha.

The Department is soon going to launch an e-biz portal ‘MSME Bazaar’ for promoting MSME products in a larger scale. The portal would have detailed information on MSME products manufactured in Odisha. Efforts are also on to link the portal to online retail platforms for display and sale of products.
